EAT
Food in Greene County often starts before the kitchen. At DMD Family Farm, cattle and pigs are raised on the same Greene County land that supplies the store, then the day moves on to a scoop from a creamery at a century farm. By supper, dinner rooms downtown carry on around tables. The names change, but you can taste the county’s working landscape in the meal.
PLAY
If the outdoors is calling your name, you may head out for Margarette Falls, where an old Forest Service road gives way to creek crossings and water fanned across the rock. Later, you can be standing near the Nolichucky, then back in town looking at rare cars or catching a game on the field at Tusculum. Mix in a show at the Performing Arts Center and you might have a perfect weekend!

STAY
Stay at the General Morgan Inn if you want to be downtown. It is right on Main Street, with Brumley’s in the building and the rest of town just outside. If you would rather have a cabin, Nolichuckey Bluffs has places above the river with porches and foothill views. There are also local campgrounds for RVs, tents, and walk-in camping. Greene County is small enough that any of them can work as a base.
